Valun – a village suspended between sea and hills

There are places you pass through… and others where you slow down without really knowing why. Valun is one of those places.

Hidden between two hills on the island of Cres, this small village feels almost secret. You arrive quietly, almost by accident… and very quickly, something shifts.

No crowds here. No noise. Just a few houses with colorful shutters, stone streets, and the sea, always present.

The harbor is tiny, almost intimate. A few boats float gently on incredibly clear water. Time seems to stretch here, as if no one is in a hurry to leave.

A simple… but rare atmosphere

Walking through Valun, you don’t really try to “see” things. You just let yourself drift. A detail on a wall, a plant growing out of stone, a particular light…

Everything is subtle, yet everything feels alive.

That’s what makes this place so special. It doesn’t try to impress. It simply exists.

Between land and sea

On one side, green hills. On the other, a calm sea, sometimes almost perfectly still.

The contrast is soft, never harsh. And that’s probably what gives Valun its unique sense of balance.

You can stay for a few hours… or much longer than planned.

A place that cannot be explained

Valun is not something you explain. It’s something you experience.

It’s not spectacular. It’s not a “must-see”.

And yet…

It’s exactly the kind of place you remember for a long time.
