Croatia in Colors: a participatory photo adventure
A color can bring back memories of a journey, a meeting, a landscape or simply a happy moment. Behind every photo lies a story, sometimes simple, sometimes emotional, but always unique.
With this photo series, Enjoy Croatia invites you to share an image matching the color of the week, along with a few words explaining what it means to you.
Your photo may have been taken in Croatia or anywhere else in the world. What matters is not the quality of the picture, but the memory, emotion or life moment it tells.
How to participate?
Every Monday, a new color is announced on the Enjoy Croatia Facebook page.
Choose a photo that matches that color and post it directly in the comments section of the blog.
Add a few lines to tell its story: where the photo was taken, what made you press the shutter button, or simply how it makes you feel.
Week after week, together we will build a gallery of memories, journeys and emotions seen through the colors that surround us.
Week 1: Monday, May 18, 2026 💙 Blue
Colors sometimes have the power to instantly bring us back to a place, a feeling or a memory. For me, this photo is above all a moment of calm.
That day, nothing extraordinary was happening. No boats on the horizon, no crowds, no special activity. Just the sea, the sky and the silence of the Adriatic.
The trees naturally frame the landscape, like a window opening onto the horizon. Their bare branches remind us that summer is still far away, yet blue is already everywhere: in the clear sky, the still sea and the mountains taking shape in the distance.
This is not the blue of summer postcards. It is a softer, deeper blue, the kind that belongs to days when you simply take the time to look around, breathe and enjoy the present moment.
When I look at this photo today, I see more than a landscape. I remember that feeling of serenity, those few minutes spent facing the sea with no other goal than enjoying the moment.
For me, this photo has the color of calm and serenity.
Week 2: Monday, May 25, 2026 💚 Green
Green is often associated with nature, but for me this photo is mostly about a feeling of freshness and wonder.
I still remember arriving at Plitvice. After a few minutes of walking, the first sounds of water begin to echo through the trees. Then suddenly, the landscape opens up and the waterfalls appear, hidden deep within the forest.
Wherever the eye looks, green dominates. Trees, mosses, reeds and even the reflections on the water seem to blend together into a single setting. A vibrant, intense green that sometimes feels almost unreal.
What struck me that day was not only the beauty of the place, but the feeling that nature truly belongs here. Water has been shaping the landscape for thousands of years, while the forest continues to grow around the lakes and waterfalls.
When I look at this photo today, I mostly see that wall of greenery and those waterfalls emerging from the forest. It is one of those images that reminds us why the Plitvice Lakes are among the most fascinating places in Croatia.
For me, this photo has the color of nature, freshness and wonder.
Week 3: Monday, June 1, 2026 🧡 Orange
Orange immediately makes me think of southern Croatia and the Neretva Valley, where mandarins play a special role in both the landscape and local life.
This photo was taken on a sunny day, in the middle of orchards stretching across the delta. Looking up at the branches heavy with fruit, I was struck by the contrast between the deep blue sky and the bright orange mandarins ready for harvest.
In this region, the mandarin harvest is much more than an agricultural activity. Every autumn, it shapes local life and even attracts visitors who come to discover the plantations, navigate the canals of the Neretva and taste fruit picked directly from the tree.
What I like about this photo is that it captures part of the region's identity in a single image. The sun, the fertile land, the work of local producers and the vibrant colors that announce one of the valley's most beautiful seasons are all there.
When I look at this image today, I mostly remember that day spent in the Neretva Valley, surrounded by orchards stretching as far as the eye could see. It is the kind of place that reminds us that behind every fruit are the men and women who have cared for this landscape for generations.
For me, this photo has the color of sunshine, generosity and the flavors of the Neretva Valley.
Week 4: Monday, June 8, 2026 ❤️ Red
The next theme will be dedicated to the color red. A flower that catches your eye, an old fishing boat, a poppy in a field, an ancient door, an unexpected detail or simply a photo linked to a special memory: it's up to you to choose the image and the story you would like to share.
Your photos and their stories can be posted directly in the comments section, just below on this page.
Thank you to everyone taking part in this photographic and human adventure through colors.
